Drawing or Painting from Still Life

This paper is for the use of only the Supervising Examiner, in consultation with

the Art Teacher.

Attention is drawn to the syllabus and to the Instructions as given in the subject

syllabus for the March 2012 Examination, on 289 to 192 pages.

 Candidates must be instructed that ruling by’ any means whatsoever is forbidden.

The candidate’s Index Number must be written clearly on the top right hand comer of the front surface of the paper.

The intended marks for questions or parts of questions are given in brackets [ ].


This Paper is divided into two Sections

Candidates may attempt the question either from Section A or Section B.    [100].


Section A

Each candidate must be provided with with a 8″ to 10″ stem of two bright coloured Genias with a few leaves OR two red single Hibiscus ~vith a few leaves. The cut flowers must be kept in a vase or a bottle filled with water so that they stay fresh. Special attention should be paid to bring out the form and character of the flowers and leaves at the same time maintaining the freshness of colours and tones.

Note:Where neither of the two flowers is available, any similar flower may be provided. The name of the flower must be mentioned.


Section B

Draw and paint any tree on campus sitting outdoors. There should be evidence of a direct study from Nature.
