Following the violent riots in Northeast Delhi, Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) had to postpone CBSE class 10 and 12 boards exams for February 26, 27, 28 and 29, 2020. Displaying concern over the safety of the students, Supreme Court ordered the central board to update on the changed schedule of board exam, for next 10 to 15 days. However, CBSE has displayed concern over further delay of the examination.
In the recently issued public notice, the board expressed that delaying the examination further can hamper class 12th students chance to get admission in professional courses, like engineering, medical. law, etc. Most of the entrance examinations, including Joint Engineering Examination Main, is scheduled to be held in month of April. Delaying the exam any more shall lead to anxiety among the students, who will have to appear for entrance and board exams in the same month. What About Students Who Are Unable To Appear For Exam?
The board ensured that it has been in contact with Delhi police, who ensured that the situation is now under control. Hence, the exam can be conducted smoothly now. For the two categories of students – those who are appearing for the exam scheduled from tomorrow and those who may face some difficulty in appearing in the examinations due to difficult circumstances, the board has decided to take the following steps –
- CBSE will conduct the exam for both Class 10th and Class 12th in the North East district of New Delhi from March 02, 2020, as per the schedule given in CBSE date sheet 2020.
- Considering situation, the Board is also preparing to hold the exam at a later date for students who are unable to appear in exams from March 02, 2020, to March 07, 2020.
In this situation, students who would not be able to appear for the exam due to the current situation in North East Delhi are advised to contact their respective school Principals.
It was observed that shifting board examination centres at this time is not a viable option and the Delhi High Court on Friday asked the police to ensure proper security at the centres in the violence-hit North-East district of the national capital.
