KVPY 2021 Eligibility Criteria – Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, conducts KVPY exam for class 11, 12, and 1st year students. The exam is divided as per different streams namely SA, SX, and SB and candidates have to meet these eligibility requirements to appear for KVPY 2021. KVPY 2021 Eligibility Criteria
To start with, the candidates should know that those who are pursuing a UG program from a distance or correspondence are not eligible for KVPY. Now, let us have a look at who is eligible for the fellowship.
Which KVPY stream you belong to?
SA stream: Under this stream those candidates apply who have qualified class 11 with Mathematics and Science as core subjects.
SX stream: According to this stream, the fellowship is awarded to the students who are currently in class 12th and are willing to do a UG program in Basic Sciences namely Physics / Chemistry / Mathematics and Biology.
SB stream: Students who are in the first year of their undergraduate program in Basic Sciences namely Physics / Chemistry / Mathematics and Biology can apply under SB stream.
KVPY 2021 Minimum Marks and Subject Criteria
The minimum marks required by the candidates to apply for the different streams SA, SB and SX.

Specific KVPY 2021 Eligibility Criteria for Each Stream
Other than the eligibility criteria stated above, the candidates also need to ensure that they fulfill the following as well.
KYPY 2021 Eligibility Criteria For SA stream
- The students who are currently studying in class 11th can apply for this stream.
- The candidates must have secured minimum 75% marks (65% for SC /ST / PwD) aggregate marks in Mathematics and Science subjects in class 10th standard board exam.
- The fellowship is provided to those students only, who join an UG program in Basic Sciences (B.Sc. / B.S. / B.Stat / B.Math / Int/ M.Sc. / M.S) after securing minimum 60% marks (50% for SC / ST / PwD) in Science subjects in class 12th exam.
- During the internship period in the fellowship, the selected candidates will be invited to the National Science (Vijyoshi) camp and their travel expenses and local hospitality will be met by KVPY.
KYPY 2021 Eligibility Criteria For SX stream
- This fellowship is for the students who are currently studying in class 12th (Science subjects) and are willing to join UG program in Basic Sciences namely Physics / Chemistry / Mathematics and Biology.
- The candidate must have an aggregate of 75% (65% for / ST / Pwd /SC) marks in Mathematics and Science subjects (Physics / Chemistry / Biology) in class 10th board examination.
- The fellowship is provided to those students only, who join an UG program in Basic Sciences (B.Sc. / B.S. / B.Stat / B.Math / Int/ M.Sc. / M.S) after securing minimum 60% marks (50% for SC / ST / PwD) in Science subjects in class 12th exam.
- Students who are in the 2nd year of Cambridge International Examination board and are willing to join an UG program in Basic Science can also apply for fellowship provided they must have a minimum 75% (65% for reserved categories SC / ST / PwD) aggregate marks in 10th class exam.
- The students in the 2nd year of Cambridge International Examination program must secure minimum 60% (50% for reserved categories) aggregate marks in Mathematics and Science subjects (PCB) in 12th class board examination.
KYPY 2021 Eligibility Criteria For SB stream
- Those students who are currently in the first year of UG program in Basic Sciences namely Physics / Chemistry / Mathematics and Biology can apply for the fellowship of this stream.
- The candidates must have secured a minimum 60% (50% for SC /ST / PwD) aggregate marks in Maths and Science subjects in the 12th class board examination.
- Also, the candidates must secure minimum 60% marks in the 1st year final examination of B.Sc. / B.S / B.Stat / B.Math / Int M.Sc. / Int M.S.
What After Checking KVPY 2021 Eligibility Criteria?
After checking the eligibility criteria, the candidates are required to fill the application form which is released in the online mode at kvpy.iisc.ernet.in. IISc, Bangalore releases the application form for KVPY. The application process for KVPY 2021 is given below.
- Go to the official website, kvpy.iisc.ernet.in and click on the registration link.
- Next, enter the basic details like name, class in which the students are presently studying, e-mail id, contact number etc.
- Then, fill rest of the application form with other details like exam centres, educational details etc.
- Next, upload the documents like photograph and signature and pay the application fee.
- Lastly, take the printout of the confirmation page after the fee payment.

About KVPY 2021
Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) is a scheme started by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. This is an on-going national program of Fellowship in Basic Sciences. IISc Bangalore conducts the aptitude test for KVPY.
KYPY 2021 exam pattern
To take admission in the fellowship, the candidates need to clear the aptitude test and interview. The aptitude test is a computer-based test that consists of the multiple-choice questions. The duration of the test is 3 hours. The questions are asked questions from the subjects Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology.
What After the Aptitude Test?
After the aptitude test, the candidates need to appear for the interview at the designated centres for further admission process. To appear in the interview, minimum qualifying marks or cut-off scores are released for the aptitude test qualified candidates. It is after the interview only, an All India Rank List is published in which 75% weightage is given to the Aptitude Test and 25% weightage is given to the Interview.
