IARCS Olympiads – Indian Association for Research in Computing Science (IARCS), conducts olympiad across the country and abroad. The examination for the same takes place in three- stages. All the students of Classes VIII to XII studying in schools affiliated to CBSE as well as other Boards in the country can give this examination. The competition is used to select the team of four students who represent India at International Olympiad for Informatics. OI is one of the twelve international Science Olympiads held annually.

IARCS Olympiad Stages
The stages of the olympiad are mentioned below. Candidates can read from here the selection process.
The round has two parallel exams namely Zonal Informatics Olympiad (ZIO) and Zonal Computing Olympiad (ZCO). Candidates have to clear either of them. But, canddiate have to apply for the both by filling out the different application0 forms.
Zonal Informatics Olympiad (ZIO): ZIO is a regular examination that test analytical and computational reasoning of the candidate. The exam is conducted in cooperation with Tata Consulting Services (TCS ION). The exam takes place in many cities.
Zonal Computing Olympiad (ZCO): Zonal Computing Olympiad is an examination conduct for testing the candidate’s programming with more emphasis on algorithms. The ZCO is coducted in cooperation with Codechef. Languages like C, C++, Python are asked.
Indian National Olympiad in Informatics (INOI)
It’s the second round in which qualified candidates of ZOC and ZIO appeared for this exam. This exam is also an advanced level programming exam. At this level languages like Python and C will not be available.
IOI Training Camp
Top students from the second stage will be called for the IOI Trainning Camp. Top four students will be representing Indian for IOI.

To actively promote good practices, it has become involved in the International Olympiad for Informatics (IOI). IARCS is involved in all aspects of training and selection of the young talent to represent the country at this prestigious Olympiad. It also recognizes a role for itself in correcting the biases in the current curriculum for computer science in the country.
