The Central Board of Secondary Education is conducting the National Informatics Olympiad in collaboration with the Indian Association for Research in Computing Science (IARCS), Mumbai, across the country and abroad. The examination for the same held in two stages. The examination is open to all the students of Classes VIII to XII studying in schools affiliated to CBSE as well as other Boards in the country.
The first stage examination consisting of the Zonal Informatics Olympiad (ZIO) is a written examination to test the aptitude of the students, their logical competence, problem-solving skills, and critical thinking. The second stage is called Indian National Olympiad in Informatics (INOI). The candidates who qualify in the first stage examination as per the norms prescribed by the selection committee will appear in the second stage examination which is based on programming skills.
Zonal Informatics Olympiad, 2018 (ZIO-2018) and Zonal Computing Olympiad, 2018 (ZCO-2018)
The Zonal Computing Olympiad will be held on Saturday, 11 November, 2017 and the Zonal Informatics Olympiad will be held on Saturday, 18 November, 2017. The Indian National Olympiad in Informatics will be held on the weekend of 6-7 January, 2018.
Register online on the TCS iON Digital Hub for the Indian Computing Olympiad website or through the direct link given below.
- Register online on the TCS iON Digital Hub for the Indian Computing Olympiad. You need to first register within the Digital Hub. Click on “Guidelines” for details.
- The registration fee is Rs 400, to be paid online (internet banking, debit card, credit card).
- After paying the fee, you will receive an acknowledgment by email/SMS. An activation code for the Digital Hub will be sent to the registered email address within 24 hours. This will be needed to access the practice test (see below).
- Registration is open till 27 October, 2017.
- Admit cards will be available through the Digital Hub approximately 10 days before the exam.
- Bulk registration is only available for registering 10 or more participants at the same time.
- Download this spreadsheet template and fill in the candidate details. Please ensure that you enter a valid email address and contact phone number for each student. Notifications will be sent via these channels.

- Submit the completed spreadsheet by email to [email protected]
- The registration fees are Rs 400 per student. This should be paid through a Demand Draft in the name of Indian Association for Research in Computing Science, payable in Mumbai.
- Make a single consolidated Demand Draft for the entire registration fee (for instance, for 11 candidates, make the DD for Rs 4400) and send it by Speed Post or courier to the following address:

When the candidates go to the examination center to write the examination, they should carry with them a bonafide certificate with their photograph attested by the Principal of their school. Since no Roll Number will be allotted to candidates, they have to write their name, class, school’s name with address and center name in the answer sheet and information sheet provided to them.
Please note that CBSE will not reimburse expenses incurred by the school on travel or accommodation of the students to participate in the first stage of the Olympiad.
