West Bengal RMO 2016 – Regional Mathematical Olympiad in West Bengal is organized by Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata, and Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education (HBCSE), on behalf of the National Board for Higher Mathematics (NBHM) of the Dept. of Atomic Energy (DAE), Govt. of India. Prior to RMO 2016, West Bengal has conducted the Pre-RMO examination to select students for RMO. The format of Pre-RMO 2016 paper and the criteria for selecting students for RMO 2016 are at the sole discretion of the Regional Coordinator of West Bengal.

Result of RMO 2016 – Regional Mathematics Olympiad has been declared. Earlier the examination was held on 09 Oct 2016. Candidates are now able to check the result for the same. The application for Pre-RMO and RMO 2016 is based on Online Application Portal, and you will require to register and login, using your email address, to submit the application. Please make sure you login using your own email address. Do not submit multiple applications.

Registration Fee is 250/- (Rupees two hundred and fifty only)
The Fees for Pre-RMO and RMO 2016 stated above are one-time non-refundable fees, including a Registration Fee of Rs. 50/-. They let you appear for Pre-RMO 2016, and if duly qualified, to appear for RMO 2016, INMO Training Camp 2017, and the National-level Test.
How to Apply Online?
Step 1 : Register online at the Application Portal
The application for Pre-RMO and RMO 2016 is based on our Online Application Portal, and you will require to register and login, using your email address, to submit the application. Please make sure you login using your own email address. You will not be able to change your Username or Applicant Name, once you have registered. Thus, enter those carefully.
Step 2 : Login at the online Application Portal
Once registered, you may login to the online Application Portal to access the Pre-RMO and RMO 2016 Application Form. You may change your password and email address at the “Settings” panel, if you want. However, you will not be able to change your Username or Applicant Name, once you have registered.
Step 3 : Submit the ONLINE Application
The application for Pre-RMO and RMO 2016 is a two-step process – Part A and Part B.
- Part A : Submit the Application
- This is an online Application Form requiring some basic information. Please be extremely careful while entering the details in the Application Form. You will not be able to change these details, once the Application is submitted. You will need to note down your Application ID, Applicant Name, Email address, Contact number and Date of Birth, as submitted here, for the Payment process (Part B).
- Part B : Payment of Application and Registration Fees
- Once your application is submitted, you will be prompted to pay the Application and Registration Fees through the SBI online portal. Follow their instructions. Instructions to process the payment of fees through the State Bank of India portal is also given at the “Important Points” column on the relevant page. Read it.
- After a successful payment of the fees, note down the “SBCollect Reference Number” (example : DU52660927) obtained from the Bank, and enter it in the second part of the Application Form. Be extremely careful while entering the “SBCollect Reference Number” in the Form, as you will not be able to change this information, once the Form is submitted.
Step 4 : Print the Application Confirmation
Once you have successfully submitted the Application Form, and the “SBCollect Reference Number” (example : DU52660927) for the payment, you will be sent a confirmation email. Please follow the instructions, and print a copy of the Application Confirmation, as stated there, for your records. Make a note of your Application ID.
All Indian students who are born on or after 1 August 1997, and in addition, are in Class IX, X, and XI are eligible to appear for the Pre-RMO and RMO. Class XII students will not be eligible to appear for Pre-RMO or RMO. Highly motivated and well prepared students from Class VIII may also take the RMO at the discretion of the Regional Coordinator (please read the following note carefully).
Note from RMO Coordinator, West Bengal – Students of Class VIII are NOT recommended to appear for Pre-RMO or RMO unless declared to be OUTSTANDING by the Principal / Headmaster / Headmistress of their school. This declaration will be required on the Pre-RMO Provisional Admit Card, in absence of which, the student will not be allowed to appear for Pre-RMO or RMO.
Eligibility for RMO 2016 : Based on the performance in Pre-RMO 2016, a small number of students will be selected to write RMO 2016. Rest of the criteria is the same as above
After the successful verification of your payment, and allocation of test centres for Pre-RMO, the Provisional Admit Cards has been issued to the candidates, individually. Login to the Application Portal to download and print your Provisional Admit Card.
- Admit card process is over…!!!
Make two printed copies of your Provisional Admit Card, and paste your recent passport size photographs on both copies. You must get the Provisional Admit Card approved and the Photos attested by the Principal / Headmaster / Headmistress of your School, or by any Mathematics Teacher from your School, before you appear for Pre-RMO. If you study in Class VIII, the Principal / Headmaster / Headmistress of your School must certify, on the Pre-RMO Provisional Admit Card, that you are truly OUTSTANDING.
Please note that without a formal approval from your school, as stated above, you will not be able to appear for Pre-RMO or RMO. Thus, before you apply online and pay the non-refundable Application and Registration Fees for Pre-RMO and RMO 2016, you may consider discussing the matter with the concerned authorities at your school.
An applicant appearing for Pre-RMO 2016 must bring both copies of his/her Provisional Admit Card, duly approved and attested, as mentioned above, to the designated Test Centre, as mentioned on the Admit Card, on the day of the Pre-RMO test.
Test Format for Pre-RMO 2016 : It is a single test of duration two-hours, consisting of about twenty questions (tentative). The candidates will have to answer ALL questions, writing objective answers (tentative). The marking scheme for Pre-RMO will be decided later.
Test Format for RMO 2016 : It is a single test of duration three-hours, consisting of about six to seven questions. The candidates will have to answer ALL questions, writing subjective solutions in the answer sheet. The marking scheme decided by HBCSE will be followed.
Test Centres (tentative) : Baharampur, Bankura, Bardhaman, Coochbehar, Jalpaiguri, Kharagpur, Kolkata Central, Kolkata North, Malda, Siliguri.
