What Is New in the Commerce Specimen Paper 2026?
Compared with the 2025 specimen paper:
- No change in pattern – same as the 2025 specimen: 80 marks, 3 hours, 13 questions; Section A 16 × 1, Section B 8 × 4, Section C 4 × 8; internal choice in two Section B questions and one Section C question
- Section B is far more case-based than 2025: café choosing debit vs credit cards, a start-up’s short-term finance, a sales manager’s level, a salary table and images on Fayol’s principles, submarine simulator training, a misleading weight-loss ad (2025 had mostly ‘outline/enumerate any four’ questions)
- Q13 case changes from Maslow’s needs in an HR passage (5 + 3 in 2025) to controlling and communication after employee theft (2 + 2 + 4 in 2026)
- Competency tags: 2025 used Recall/Understanding/Application/Analysis/Evaluate; 2026 drops ‘Application’ and leaves Q7 and Q8 untagged

How to Score Well – Tips from the 2026 Paper
- Management carries about 33 of 80 marks – revise Fayol’s principles (equity, order), levels of management, budgets as plans, training methods and the steps of controlling with case examples.
- Practise identifying concepts from short cases and images: debit vs credit card, trade credit/factoring-type finance, demand draft features, publicity vs advertising.
- Know the Consumer Protection Act 2019 provisions on misleading advertisements and consumer rights – asked in both Section A and Section B.
- Section C questions are 5 + 3: write five well-explained points for the 5-mark part and three for the 3-mark part.
- No 2027 specimen paper has been issued for Commerce, so the 2026 pattern applies – practise with this paper and the 2025 one.
- Solve the 2026 paper in one sitting – 3 hours plus 15 minutes reading time, like the exam, and solve the 2025 paper a few days later.
