Steps to Apply for Meghalaya NMMS 2026-27
- Download the application form from megeducation.gov.in or get it from the office of the SDSEO of your district.
- Fill it in capital letters with a blue or black ball point pen; the head of the school certifies the Class VII marks.
- Attach two passport-size photos (in school uniform), the Class VII report card, SC/ST/OBC certificate, disability certificate (if any) and parental income certificate.
- Submit the form with documents to the SDSEO office of your district by the last date (2026-27: 9 October 2026); forms without documents are rejected.
Who can apply for Meghalaya NMMS 2026-27?
Class VIII in academic year 2026 in State Govt/Govt-aided/Local Body schools only; 55% in Class VII promotion exam 2025 (5% relaxation SC/ST/OBC); parental income up to Rs 3,50,000; KV, JNV, residential and private school students not eligible.
Qualifying and selection: At least 40% for General category and 32% for SC/ST/OBC, separately in both papers. 231 students are selected as per the state quota allotted by the Ministry of Education. Eligibility: Class VIII student of a state government, government-aided or local-body school; at least 55% in the Class VII promotion exam (5% relaxation for SC/ST/OBC); parental annual income from all sources not above Rs 3,50,000. Students of KVs, JNVs, residential schools and private schools are not eligible.
What is the Meghalaya NMMS exam pattern?
Meghalaya NMMS has multiple-choice questions and lasts MAT 120 minutes + SAT 120 minutes. Mode: offline (pen-paper, OMR sheet, ball point pen) at district/sub-division centres. The number of questions and marks depend on the class:

How much is the Meghalaya NMMS scholarship?
Rs 12,000 a year (Rs 1,000 a month) for up to four years, Class IX to XII, applied for online on the National Scholarship Portal. To continue, the student must get clear promotion from IX to X and XI to XII at the first attempt and score at least 60% in Class X (5% relaxation for SC/ST).
