Assam NMMS 2026
NMMS is a central-sector scholarship scheme of the Department of School Education & Literacy, Ministry of Education, implemented in Assam by the Directorate of Secondary Education (DSE), Assam. It rewards meritorious students from economically weaker families studying in Class 8 in government schools, and supports their studies up to Class 12.

Assam NMMS Eligibility Criteria
- The student must be studying in Class 8 in a government, government-aided or local-body school in Assam (private schools, Kendriya Vidyalayas, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas and residential/central schools are not eligible).
- Parental/family income must not be more than ₹3,50,000 per annum.
- The student must have passed Class 7 with at least 55% marks (50% for SC/ST candidates).
Assam NMMS Exam Pattern
The Assam NMMS exam has two papers — MAT and SAT — of 180 marks in total, taken on the same day. Both are objective (multiple-choice) papers.

To qualify, a candidate generally needs about 40% marks (32% for SC/ST/PwD candidates).
Assam NMMS Scholarship Amount
Selected students receive ₹1,000 per month, i.e. ₹12,000 per year, paid from Class 9 to Class 12 (four years) directly into the student’s bank account through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). Assam has 2,411 NMMS scholarships.
Assam NMMS 2026 Application Form
Apply online at the DSE Assam scholarship portal (bidyarthi.co.in) before the last date, 08 November 2026. Fill the form, upload your photograph (JPG, up to 35 KB) and signature (JPG, up to 30 KB), attach a caste certificate (SC/ST/OBC) and disability certificate if applicable, and pay the fee online. Remember the password you set, as it is needed to log in later. No changes are allowed once the form is submitted.
