Steps to Apply for Puducherry NMMS 2026-27
- Students apply only through their school: the school fills a Google form (link on schooledn.py.gov.in) using its UDISE e-mail ID (2025-26: 8 to 27 January 2026).
- Enter the student’s name exactly as in Aadhaar and the date of birth as DD/MM/YYYY.
- Choose the General category for non-resident students (those belonging to Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh or Kerala).
- Enter the parental annual income correctly; for parents in government service the last month’s pay slip is verified.
- Do not make duplicate entries; corrections are made by editing the submitted response, and the head of school keeps the students’ applications.
Who can apply for Puducherry NMMS 2026-27?
Class 8 in State Govt/Govt-aided schools (not JNV); at least 55% in Class VII (50% for SC/ST); parental income up to Rs 3,50,000 a year. 125 seats (2025-26).
Qualifying and selection: Eligibility: Class 8 student of a State Government or Government-aided school (residential schools such as JNV are not eligible), at least 55% in the Class 7 annual exam (50% for SC/ST) and parents’ income from all sources not above Rs 3,50,000 a year. Puducherry has 125 scholarships, selected on merit-cum-parental income, region-wise and category-wise: Puducherry 93, Karaikal 23, Mahe 3, Yanam 6 (across GEN, PH, OBC, MBC and SC categories). Per the national NMMSS rules, a student needs at least 40% aggregate in MAT + SAT together (32% for SC/ST).

How much is the Puducherry NMMS scholarship?
Rs 12,000 a year from Class 9 to Class 12, paid by the Ministry of Education. To continue, the student needs clear promotion from Class 9 to 10 and Class 11 to 12 at the first attempt and at least 60% in Class 10 (55% for SC/ST); the scholarship is applied for and renewed each year on the National Scholarship Portal (scholarships.gov.in). Puducherry gets 125 of the 1,00,000 NMMS scholarships each year (Ministry of Education quota).
