Steps to Apply for Himachal Pradesh NMMS 2026-27
- The school must first register with SCERT every year by emailing its UDISE number and details to [email protected].
- The student applies online on the NMMSS portal (nmcme.examtime.co.in) linked from the SCERT website (2026-27: 1 August to 11 September 2026, after extension).
- Attach the parents’ income certificate, and caste / disability (40%+) certificates where applicable, from the competent authority.
- Choose the exam centre carefully; it cannot be changed later.
- The Principal/Headmaster verifies and approves the form; there is no editing after submission (a wrong form must be rejected and filled afresh).
Who can apply for Himachal Pradesh NMMS 2026-27?
Class VIII regular student in Govt/Local Body/95% Govt-aided school (2026-27); parental annual income ≤ Rs 3,50,000; ≥55% in Class VII (5% relaxation SC/ST); KV, JNV, private and residential school students not eligible.
Qualifying and selection: Minimum 40% aggregate in MAT + SAT together for general category, 32% for reserved categories. Eligibility: Class 8 regular student, at least 55% in Class 7 (5% relaxation for SC/ST), parents’ annual income not more than Rs 3,50,000. KV, JNV, private and government residential school students cannot get the scholarship. Himachal Pradesh has 832 scholarships, awarded to students who meet the minimum conditions.

Himachal Pradesh NMMS has multiple-choice questions and lasts MAT 90 minutes + SAT 90 minutes. Mode: offline (pen-paper, OMR answer sheet) at 65 exam centres across the state. There is no negative marking. The number of questions and marks depend on the class:

How much is the Himachal Pradesh NMMS scholarship?
Rs 1,000 a month (Rs 12,000 a year) from Class 9 to Class 12, while studying in a Government, local body or 95% Government-aided school. To continue, the student needs clear promotion in the first attempt and at least 60% in Class 10 (55% for SC/ST). Himachal Pradesh gets 832 of the 1,00,000 NMMS scholarships each year (Ministry of Education quota).
