Steps to Apply for Sikkim NMMS 2026-27
- No Sikkim NMMS notice for 2023-24 or later is on the Education Department portal (checked 30 October 2026); watch education.sikkim.gov.in and ask the school.
- Students selected in the exam then apply for the scholarship themselves on the National Scholarship Portal (scholarships.gov.in) with an Aadhaar-seeded bank account.
Who can apply for Sikkim NMMS 2026-27?
Students of Class 8 can take Sikkim NMMS.
Qualifying and selection: Per the national NMMSS rules (no recent Sikkim notification found): at least 40% aggregate in MAT + SAT together (32% for SC/ST); at least 55% in Class 7 to appear and 55% in Class 8 at selection (5% relaxation for SC/ST); parents’ income from all sources not above Rs 3,50,000 a year. Students of Kendriya Vidyalayas, JNVs, government residential schools and private schools cannot get the scholarship. Sikkim’s quota is 58 scholarships, with reservation as per State norms.
What is the Sikkim NMMS exam pattern?
Sikkim NMMS has multiple-choice questions and lasts MAT 90 minutes + SAT 90 minutes, as per the national NMMSS guidelines. The number of questions and marks depend on the class:

How much is the Sikkim NMMS scholarship?
Rs 12,000 a year (Rs 1,000 a month) from Class 9 to Class 12. To continue, the student needs clear promotion from Class 9 to 10 and Class 11 to 12 at the first attempt and at least 60% in Class 10 (55% for SC/ST); the scholarship is applied for and renewed each year on the National Scholarship Portal (scholarships.gov.in).
