10 Lines on Dussehra in English – Importance of Vijayadashmi

The festival of Dussehra is important not for the way it is celebrated but for the reasons. It signifies the power of good, compassion and purity over cruelty and evil. On this day, people gather in large crowds to witness the burning of a huge Ravana statue using firecrackers. Thereafter, people begin their preparations for Diwali, the festival which radiates positivity and happiness across the country.

  1. It is a joyous festival celebrated in India. It is an occasion denoting the victory of Rama, a symbol of Vishnu, over the 10-headed evil spirit lord Ravana, who snatched Rama’s better half, Sita.
  2. The celebration’s name is taken from the words dasha which means “Ten” in Sanskrit and hara which means “defeated” in Sanskrit. 
  3. Representing the triumph of good over evil, Dussehra is commended on the tenth day of the period of Ashvina (September–October), the seventh month of the Hindu schedule, with the presence of the full moon, an occasion called the “brilliant fortnight” (shukla paksha).
  4. The celebration’s name is gotten from the Sanskrit words dasha which means “Ten” in Hindi and hara which means “defeated” in Hindi. 
  5. Representing the triumph of good over evil, Dussehra is commended on the tenth day of the period of Ashvina (September–October), the seventh month of the Hindu schedule, with the presence of the full moon, an occasion called the “brilliant fortnight” (shukla paksha).
  6. The tenth day is usually celebrated as Dussehra, marking the end of the nine day Durga Puja celebrations also known as “Navratri” celebration where “Nav” symbolizes the 9 days.
  7. Individuals all over India observe Dussehra with monstrous excitement, grandeur, and show. 
  8. The various societies don’t influence the festivals of the celebration. The soul and enthusiasm continue as before all through the celebration.
  9. Besides, Dussehra marks Lord Rama’s triumph over Demon Ravana. In this manner, individuals establish the fight that occurred between them for ten long days. 
  10. This emotional structure is called Ram-Leela. Individuals in North India showcase the Ram-Leela by wearing veils and through different dance structures.
