Pharmacy is the science of medicines – their preparation, dosage, effects, and safe use. Pharmacists play a key role in healthcare, from developing drugs to dispensing them and advising patients.

With a large pharmaceutical industry and steady healthcare demand, pharmacy offers diverse careers in industry, retail, hospitals, and research. Ideal for students who like chemistry and biology.

Pharmacy Courses and Eligibility

10+2 with the Science stream (PCM or PCB). A B.Pharm is a 4-year degree and a D.Pharm is a 2-year diploma. Pharmacy admission does not require NEET. Some of the most popular Pharmacy courses and degrees are:

  • Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm)
  • Diploma in Pharmacy (D.Pharm)
  • Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D)
  • M.Pharm (Master of Pharmacy)

Within Pharmacy, you can choose to specialise in areas such as Pharmaceutics, Pharmacology, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmacognosy, and Pharmacy Practice. Admission to most programmes is through entrance exams like state-level pharmacy entrance tests, JEE / CUET (some universities), and GPAT (for M.Pharm).

A qualification in Pharmacy leads to varied and rewarding career paths. Graduates commonly work as Pharmacist, Drug Inspector, Medical Representative, Production/QA Executive, and Research Associate.
