Republic Day Speech 2023

Good Morning to our honourable principal, my beloved teachers, my supportive seniors and my lovely classmates and friends. I am …, studying in Class…, and have been given this opportunity to deliver a speech on Republic Day celebration. As we all know, we have gathered here to celebrate the 76th Republic Day of our Nation.

Republic Day, celebrated every year on 26th January has gained special significance in the history of India. Every year, the national event is celebrated with lots of joy and festivities to make the event colourful and memorable. Though we got independence on 15 th August,1947, it took two and a half years of concerted efforts by our great leaders to make the constitution which came into effect on 26th January, 1950.

“Republic” means the supreme power and citizen living in the Republic nation enjoys the rights to elect their representatives to lead and run the country. Thus, in the Republic India, every  citizen enjoys equal rights irrespective of status and gender he/she belongs to.

On this special day, patriotic songs echoes everywhere as every child flutters a tiny national flag to mark the occasion. Many schools organise various cultural events to make the event memorable. Prestigious awards are given away to martyrs and heroes, who dedicated lives to the country.

Republic Day parade, which takes place in the capital, is a prominent and eye catching element of the celebration. It showcases India’s Defence Capability, Cultural and Social Heritage. The colorful displays are exhibited by every state which depicts their culture. We also invite a chief guest from another country. This shows our tradition of “Atithi Devo Bhava.” President of India, who is the commander in chief of Indian Armed Forces, takes the salute of all the defence contingents. The prime minister gives a floral tribute to the sacrificed Indian soldiers at the Amar Jawan Jyoti, India gate.

People watching from the gallery, on the roads from Vijay Path to Red Fort, through the telecast or listening through radio commentary, all get engrossed in the wave of national pride.
