What Is in Gilli Danda? (Class 5 English Chapter 7)
- Gilli Danda is a happy poem in three stanzas. Children gather in the playground with a long stick (danda) and a small gilli.
- They count one, two, three, swing and hit. They never quit, and every swing makes them feel free.
- The gilli flies high under the bright blue sky, and the children laugh and play in the golden sunshine.
- Main idea: playing outdoors with friends brings simple joy. The gilli going up and coming down fits the unit Ups and Downs.
- Language work: prefixes un- and re-, abstract nouns and possessive pronouns; then questions, double letters, opposites, making a gilli and danda, a Spellathon and a riddle.
