What Is in Twin Melodies? (Class 9 English Chapter 6)
- Twin Melodies (Mitra Phukan), a play in three Acts: violinist Shruti plays in an Indo-Western fusion group with Iqbal, Avinash and Peter, but fears telling her strict father, Nabin.
- In Act II Nabin refuses and mocks fusion music. In Act III he watches the group practise, is moved, and offers them his music room.
- Leela reveals that Nabin himself once defied his family of singers to play the violin. He admits his fears were baseless: “each bay, its own wind.”
- A Friend Found in Music (Bryanna T. Perkins): three short stanzas that call music an ocean, a rhythm, a therapy and a needed friend.
