National Talent Search Examination (NTSE) started in the year 1963. The purpose of the scheme is to identify talented students and nurture them. This year NCERT had conducted the National Talent Search Examination for students studying in Class X.

Final Answer keys of State Talent Search Examination (STSE) which was held on 6th November, 2016 are placed below for your convenience.
Application Forms can be collected from the office of Director, State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Sector 32, UT Chandigarh, or can be downloaded from the official website of State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Sector-32, Chandigarh.
The completed application form duly signed by Principal of the school should be submitted to the State Liaison Officer before the last date.
Eligibility to appear in the examination
Must have scored grade B2 and above or 61% and above marks in Class IX examination (in the academic session 2014-15) and has been promoted to class X (in the academic session 2015-16), 5% relaxation in marks for reserved category.
Students registered under Open Distance Learning (ODL) will also be eligible for scholarship, provided the student is below the age of 18 years (as on 1st July of the particular year), the student is not employed and she/he is appearing in class X examination for the first time.
Admission cards are to be collected from 13 Oct 2016 to 24 Oct 2016 from State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Sector 32 C, UT Chandigarh by a representative of the Head of the concerned School.
Reach the Examination Centre at least half an hour before the commencement of the examination.
Do Not carry calculator, mathematical & physical table or any other kind of ready reckoner to the examination hall
Examination: The pattern of written examination will be as follows. The examination will comprise of Three parts, namely

- Language Test (LT)
- Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT)

Merit List: The minimum qualifying marks in each paper will be 40% for general category and 32 % for reserved category students. Language comprehensive test will be qualifying in nature and marks will not be added for deciding final merit of the candidate. Top ten students from amongst the eligible candidates (as per the reservation policy of UT Chandigarh) who qualify Stage-I will be recommended to appear for Stage II examination conducted by NCERT in May, 2017
State Quota: Union Territory Chandigarh has been allotted a quota of 10 seats for scholarship. The division of seats will be done according to reservation policy of UT Chandigarh
Reservation: As per State norms including 3% reservation for Physically Challenged Group of Students.
Selection: There will be two-stage selection process for award of scholarship. For Stage –I selection is done by State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Sector 32, UT Chandigarh through a written examination. Top ten students from amongst the eligible candidates (as per the reservation policy of UT Chandigarh) who qualify Stage-I will be recommended to appear for Stage II examination conducted by NCERT.
Scholarships: On the basis of the examination conducted, 1000 scholarships (at National level) will be awarded for students appearing for Class X Examinations. The amount of scholarship will be as under:
- Scholarship of Rs. 1250/- per month for Class –XI to XII.
- Scholarship of Rs. 2000/- per month for Undergraduates and Post-graduates.
- Amount of Scholarship for Ph.D. be fixed in accordance with the UGC norms.

The revised Answer Keys of State Talent Search Examination 2016 has been released. Any objections regarding questions and their answers may be submitted in writing to the Director, State Council of Educational Research and Training, UT Chandigarh up to 28th December 2015. The institute working timings are 09:00 am to 05:00 pm.
