Compared with the 2026 sample paper (session 2025-26):
- No change in pattern – same 34 questions in five sections, 80 marks, 3 hours (21 × 1 MCQ, 6 × 3, 3 × 8, 3 × 4 source-based, 1 × 5 map), same word limits and internal choice in Q22, Q27, Q28–Q30 and the map.
- General Instructions reworded: 2027 now says internal choice is provided ‘in Sections B, C and E’ and adds a printed note on separate questions for candidates with visual impairment (2026 said ‘internal choice in a few questions’).
- Footnote changed from ‘the assessment scheme of the Academic Session 2024-25 will continue’ (2026) to ‘There is no change in the Question Paper Design and Assessment Pattern for Academic Session 2026-27’.

CBSE Class 12 History Marking Scheme 2027 (Solutions)
The 2027 marking scheme gives the correct option for all 21 MCQs, value points for the short and long answers (marked ‘any three points’ etc.), sub-part answers with marks for the source-based questions, answers to the visually-impaired alternatives and a marked map showing Nageshwar, Bharhut, Vijayanagar, Kanchipuram, A = Lucknow and B = Jabalpur. How to Score Well – Tips from the 2027 Paper
- Each of the three NCERT books carries about 25 marks – no book can be skipped.
- Section A tests exact textbook detail (Bharuch for carnelian, B.B. Lal at Hastinapura, Robert Redfield’s ‘great and little traditions’, Parantaka I, jins-i-kamil crops) – read NCERT boxes and sources closely.
- Source-based questions come straight from NCERT source boxes (Gandhari’s advice, Ibn Battuta on slaves, public opinion in the Constituent Assembly) with a 2-mark analytical last part – practise the textbook sources.
- 8-mark answers need 300–350 words; Q29 B is split 4+4, so answer both parts of a two-part question separately.
- For the map, practise Harappan and Buddhist sites, Vijayanagar/Kanchipuram and the centres of the 1857 revolt (Lucknow, Jabalpur appeared here).
- Solve the 2027 paper in one sitting with a timer, check it with the marking scheme, then solve the 2026 paper a few days later.
