- A thing is symmetrical when its two halves match exactly after folding.
- The fold line is the line of symmetry. A mirror kept on it shows the whole thing.
- In a mirror image, a thing and its image are the same distance from the line.
- Malas, rangolis, kolams and masks are checked for symmetry in this chapter.
- Tiling means filling a shape with pieces, leaving no gaps and no overlaps.
- Rangometry cut-outs join to make a tile, and the tile repeats to make a path.
- A map shows places by small pictures, with a list of names beside it.
