What Is in House of Hundreds-I? (Class 3 Maths Chapter 6)
- Ten ones make one ten. Ten tens make one hundred. That is why we count in tens.
- A three-digit number has hundreds (H), tens (T) and ones (O). 211 is 2 H + 1 T + 1 O.
- The same number can be written as a number sentence: 211 = 200 + 10 + 1.
- On a number line the numbers get bigger as we move to the right.
- In the number buildings, one house to the right is 1 more and one floor up is 10 more.
- To compare two numbers, look at the hundreds first, then the tens, then the ones.
- The sign > means ‘more than’ and < means ‘less than’. The open mouth faces the bigger number.
