What Is in Toy Joy? (Class 3 Maths Chapter 2)
- Every solid shape has faces, edges and corners. A face is a side, an edge is where two faces meet, and a corner is where edges meet.
- A cube has 6 flat faces, all of the same size. A cuboid has 6 flat faces too. The book says a cube is a special kind of cuboid.
- A cylinder has 2 flat round faces and 1 curved face. A cone has 1 flat round face, 1 curved face and a pointed tip.
- A sphere is a ball. It has only one curved face, no edge and no corner, so it rolls every way.
- Toys and models are made by joining shapes. Say what is on top of what, and what is under what, to describe a model.
- On a die the faces show 1 to 6 dots. The dots on two opposite faces always add up to 7.
