- An even number can be halved: 6 × 14 is double 6 × 7 = 42 + 42 = 84.
- Multiplying by 10 gives tens — 26 × 10 = 26 Tens = 260. Multiplying by 100 gives hundreds — 27 × 100 = 27 Hundreds = 2700.
- 10 tens make 1 hundred and 10 hundreds make 1 thousand.
- To multiply two big numbers, split both by place value and add the small products: 15 × 14 = 100 + 40 + 50 + 20 = 210.
