Chapter at a Glance

  • The same object looks different from different places. The top view, the front view and the side view are three such pictures.
  • The top view is what you see looking straight down. The front view is what you see standing in front. The side view is what you see from one side.
  • We see along a straight line. If a wall, a tree or a pot stands on that line, it blocks our view.
  • A grid tells us a position by its row and its column, for example Row 1 and Column 1.
  • On a grid we move only up, down, left or right. One move is called one step.
  • A sight map is a top view of a place. It helps us find a route and compare which route is shorter.
