What Is New in the Maths Standard Sample Paper 2027?
Compared with the 2026 sample paper (session 2025-26):
- No change in pattern – same sections, marks and number of questions as the 2026 sample paper (38 questions, 80 marks, 3 hours, Sections A–E with 20/10/18/20/12 marks).
- Footer note changed from ‘assessment scheme of the Academic Session 2024-25 will continue in 2025-26’ to ‘There is no change in the Question Paper Design and Assessment Pattern for Academic Session 2026-27’.
- Internal-choice questions moved: 2026 had choices in Q21, Q24 (B), Q29, Q31 (C), Q34, Q35 (D); 2027 has them in Q21, Q22 (B), Q28, Q31 (C), Q34, Q35 (D). Section E choice rule unchanged.
- Visually-impaired alternatives reduced: 2026 gave them for Q7, Q25, Q26, Q31(B) and Q37; 2027 gives one only for Q22(B).
- The 1-1-2 sub-part split for case studies is now stated in the Section E heading rather than in General Instruction (vii); section headings now print marks totals (e.g. 20 x 1 = 20).
- Paper is shorter: 6 pages in 2027 vs 8 pages in 2026.
Questions from the Maths Standard Sample Paper 2027
Two questions from the 2027 paper, to show the level:
- Section A, 1 mark: The middle term of the A.P.: 10, 7, 4, …, –62 is: (A) –26 (B) –29 (C) –32 (D) –35
- Section E, 4 marks: Case study (Q36): A student company sells small sanitizer bottles at ₹10 and large at ₹15; in June it sold 1000 bottles for ₹12,750. After raising both prices by ₹2, it sold 2500 bottles in July for ₹34,250. (i) Form a linear equation in two variables for June’s sale (1). (ii) Form one for July’s sale (1). (iii)(A) How many bottles of each type were sold in June? OR (B) How many of each type were sold in July? (2)
CBSE Class 10 Maths Standard Marking Scheme 2027 (Solutions)
The 2027 marking scheme gives the answer option with brief working for every MCQ (no part marks in Section A) and full step-wise solutions for Sections B–E with ½/1-mark splits per step, including 1 mark for a ‘correct figure’ in heights-and-distances answers and 1 mark for the correct frequency table in the mean question. It does not print alternative methods. Check your answers against it after you solve the paper.

How to Score Well – Tips from the 2027 Paper
- Section A MCQs carry no part marks and many need 2–3 lines of working (e.g. HCF with remainders in Q1, middle term of an AP in Q5) – do rough work carefully before choosing.
- In heights-and-distances long answers (Q35) the marking scheme gives 1 mark just for a correct labelled figure – always draw it.
- No calculators and π = 22/7: practise hand calculation like 66 km ÷ wheel circumference (Q10) or the cone-plus-hemisphere volume with 166 5/6 cm^3 (Q34B).
- Learn NCERT theorem proofs word-perfect: BPT proof plus application is a 5-mark question (Q33) and ‘parallelogram circumscribing a circle is a rhombus’ is 3 marks (Q29).
- Expect error-spotting questions: Q31(A) asks you to find the wrong step in a student’s trigonometry simplification and correct it.
- Solve the 2027 paper in one sitting with a timer, check it with the marking scheme, then solve the 2026 paper a few days later.
