Choice: Section A and most of Section C have no choice; choices are: one of four essay topics (Q5), an OR alternative in each of Q6–Q9, any 3 of 5 idioms in Q12(i), any 2 of 4 in Q15–Q17, and one of three forms in Q18.
- Word limit printed for the essay: 250–300 words; many Section A items ask for a one-word or one-sentence answer.
- Urdu Course B (code 303) has the same four sections and marks (20/25/20/15) but a different question mix: Section A has four passages with only MCQs (5×1 each); Section B has an essay of 250 words (10) and three 5-mark questions (application/letter, a writer’s life or a lesson summary, a poet’s life or a poem’s central idea); Section C is one 16-mark grammar question (8 MCQs + 4-mark match-the-columns + 4-mark tense identification) and a 4-mark idioms question; Section D has short answers worth 6, 2, 4 and 3.
- Urdu Course B instructions say 15 questions, but its 2027 sample paper prints only 14 (Q1–Q14).

What Is New in the Urdu Sample Paper 2027?
Compared with the 2026 sample paper (session 2025-26):
- No change in pattern – Urdu Course A still has 18 questions in 4 sections (Reading 20, Writing 25, Grammar 20, Literature 15) with the same marks per question; the 2027 paper itself states there is no change in the question paper design and assessment pattern for 2026-27.
- Essay (Q5) now offers four topics instead of three: 2026 – air pollution, unemployment, book fair; 2027 – my favourite poet, national integration, advantages and disadvantages of television, unemployment.
- Q6 changed: 2026 – application for three days’ leave for sister’s wedding OR letter to father asking for annual fees; 2027 – application for permission to take the class to a science museum OR letter to elder sister about educational activities.
- Q7–Q9 lessons changed: 2026 – ‘Naya Qanoon’ / Muhammad Mujeeb, ‘Jalwa-e-Darbar-e-Dehli’ / Zauq, ‘Faqir’ / Premchand; 2027 – ‘Bhola’ / Maulvi Abdul Haq, ‘Garmi aur Dehati Bazar’ / Yas Yagana Changezi, ‘ICS’ / ‘Sultan’.
- Grammar headings changed: Q10 ‘Fe’l’ → ‘Fe’l aur Fe’l ki Aqsam’; Q11 ‘Sanaye Badaye’ → ‘Ilm-e-Bayan aur Ilm-e-Badi’ (2027 asks to identify simile, metaphor and allusion in three sentences instead of naming and defining a figure in a couplet); Q12(i) now asks the meaning and use of any 3 of 5 idioms (2026: use 3 of 4 in sentences).
- Q18 options changed from ghazal / afsana / nazm (2026) to drama / afsana / ghazal (2027).

CBSE Class 10 Urdu Marking Scheme 2027 (Solutions)
The 2027 Course A marking scheme gives answers for all Section A items, Section C answers with 1-mark splits, and full model answers for both options of Q7–Q9, all Q15–Q17 items and all three Q18 notes. It prints mark splits for the essay (introduction 1, body 6, language and expression 2, conclusion 1) and the application/letter (format – address, salutation, subject, date, closing 2; body 2). Check your answers against it after you solve the paper.

How to Score Well – Tips from the 2027 Paper
- Half of Section A is from the textbook (Q1 prose, Q3 ghazal) – revise the lessons and ghazals well enough to name the lesson, author and poet (Q1 and Q3 ask exactly that).
- Q7–Q9 (11 marks) are literature questions inside ‘Writing Skills’: prepare summaries of each story/poem and short notes on each author’s life and literary work, since the OR option is usually a writer’s note.
- In the essay, the body carries 6 of 10 marks and language 2 – plan an introduction and conclusion (1 mark each) and stay within 250–300 words.
- Learn definitions with examples of figures of speech (tashbih, isti’ara, talmih, tazad, husn-e-ta’lil, kinaya), punctuation marks and poetic terms (matla, maqta, qafiya, radif) – Section C asks them as MCQs and identification items.
- For idioms (Q12), write the meaning in brackets and then a sentence that shows it, as the marking scheme does.
- Solve the 2027 paper in one sitting with a timer, check it with the marking scheme, then solve the 2026 paper a few days later.
