How to Score Well – Tips from the 2027 Paper
- Literature is 36 of 80 marks and half of it (18) is extract-based MCQs in Q6 – know which poet/collection each extract comes from and the named characters (e.g. Vallathol for ‘Ente Bhasha’, ‘Kaatte Kadale’ collection, V.T. Bhattathiripad, K.U. Nair).
- For the 3-mark Q7/Q8 answers write in paragraphs with a short introduction naming the author, work and lesson – the marking scheme requires it.
- Keep the essay within one and a half pages and give it an introduction and a conclusion with remedies/suggestions – each carries 1 mark.
- Learn the official-letter layout (sender, recipient with designation, subject, salutation, ‘vishwasthathayode’, place, date, signature) and the news-report format (headline, ‘own correspondent’, place, paragraphs) – format alone is 2 of 4 marks in the report.
- Grammar Q4 has almost no choice (8 marks) – practise clause separation, active/passive voice change and error correction.
- Solve the 2027 paper in one sitting with a timer, check it with the marking scheme, then solve the 2026 paper a few days later.
