Every Hindustani Music stream in CBSE Class 10 carries 100 total marks – 30 for the Theory paper, 50 for the Practical examination and 20 for Internal Assessment. The distribution is identical across the Vocal, Melodic and Percussion streams.

Hindustani Music is offered as three independent subjects in CBSE Class 10. A student opts for one of the following streams. Each has its own subject code and its own 50-mark Practical scheme, while the Theory (30) and Internal Assessment (20) pattern remains common.
In all three streams, the Internal Assessment (20 marks) is common in structure – a Project File (5 marks), Project Work (5 marks) on an interdisciplinary suggestive topic, and Periodic Practical Tests (10 marks) restricted to three in an academic year, with the average of the best two taken for final submission.
