- पाठ का आरम्भ चित्र-संवाद से होता है — विद्यालय के क्रीडोत्सव में पादकन्दुक-क्रीडा (फुटबॉल) जीतने पर आचार्य पूछते हैं कि प्रतिद्वन्द्वी कैसे हारे। छात्र उत्तर देते हैं — अपने दल में परस्पर सामञ्जस्य था, विपक्षी दल में मनोभेद और द्वेषभाव था, वे एक-दूसरे का सहयोग नहीं करते थे।
- आचार्य निष्कर्ष देते हैं — विजय के लिए मिलित्वा कार्यकरणम्, एकता तथा परस्परं सामञ्जस्यम् आवश्यक है; और यही सन्देश वेद में ‘संगच्छध्वं संवदध्वम्’ के रूप में दिया गया है।
- पाठ के तीन मन्त्र ऋग्वेद के संज्ञान-सूक्त (१०.१९१) से लिए गए हैं। पहला मन्त्र कहता है — मिलकर चलो, एक स्वर में बोलो, तुम्हारे मन एक-दूसरे को जानें; जैसे सृष्टि के आरम्भ में देव (अग्नि, वायु, आदित्य आदि ब्रह्माण्डीय शक्तियाँ) अपना-अपना भाग स्वीकार कर उत्कृष्ट समन्वय से कर्म करते थे।
- दूसरा मन्त्र सामूहिक कर्म का आधार बताता है — सबका मन्त्र (चिन्तन) समान हो, समिति (लक्ष्यसिद्धि) समान हो, मन समान हो, चित्त एकीभूत हो। तीसरा मन्त्र कहता है — तुम्हारा सङ्कल्प (आकूतिः) समान हो, हृदय सामरस्यपूर्ण हों, मन एकरूप हो, जिससे तुम्हारा संघटन सुन्दर बने।
