What Is New in the Maths Basic Sample Paper 2027?
Compared with the 2026 sample paper (session 2025-26):
- No change in pattern – same sections, marks and number of questions as the 2026 sample paper (38 questions, 80 marks, 3 hours, Sections A–E with 20/10/18/20/12 marks; 18 MCQs + 2 assertion-reason in Section A; case studies with 1-1-2 sub-parts; no calculators).
- Footer note changed from ‘the assessment scheme of the Academic Session 2024-25 will continue in the current session i.e. 2025-26’ to ‘There is no change in the Question Paper Design and Assessment Pattern for Academic Session 2026-27’.
- Internal-choice questions moved: 2026 had choices in Q21, Q25 (B), Q27, Q29 (C), Q33, Q34 (D); 2027 has them in Q21, Q25 (B), Q27, Q30 (C), Q33, Q35 (D). Section E choice rule unchanged.
- Visually-impaired alternatives reduced: 2026 gave them for Q10, Q11, Q16, Q22, Q28 and Q29; 2027 gives them for Q24, Q27(A) and Q36.
- Section headings now print marks totals (e.g. ‘SECTION – A (20 × 1 = 20)’) and the paper is shorter: 8 pages in 2027 vs 11 pages in 2026.
Questions from the Maths Basic Sample Paper 2027
Two questions from the 2027 paper, to show the level:
- Section A, 1 mark: Which term of the AP: 21, 42, 63, 84 … is 210? (A) 9th (B) 10th (C) 11th (D) 12th
- Section E, 4 marks: Case study (Q38): A labourer prints 400 T-shirts in a day; 312 prints are good, 54 have minor defects and the rest have major defects. Harish buys a T-shirt only if it is good; a trader buys it if it has no major defect. If a T-shirt is picked at random, (i) find the probability that Harish will buy it (1); (ii) find the probability that the trader will buy it (1); (iii)(A) find the probability that the T-shirt is not good OR (B) find the probability that neither Harish nor the trader buys it (2).
CBSE Class 10 Maths Basic Marking Scheme 2027 (Solutions)
The 2027 marking scheme gives the answer option with a short working/hint for every MCQ and assertion-reason question (‘no part marks’ in Section A) and step-wise solutions for Sections B–E with ½/1-mark splits, including answers for both internal-choice options and the visually-impaired alternatives. The BPT proof (Q32) is marked 4 × ½ for figure, given, to prove and construction plus 3 for the proof, and the heights-and-distances answers (Q35) give 1 mark for a correct figure. Check your answers against it after you solve the paper.

How to Score Well – Tips from the 2027 Paper
- Learn the Basic Proportionality Theorem proof thoroughly: Q32 asks for the proof itself (5 marks), with 2 marks just for figure, given, to prove and construction – and Q20 tests its converse as an assertion.
- Tangent properties appear in four questions (Q11, Q17, Q24, Q27) – practise ‘tangents from an external point are equal’ and ‘radius ⟂ tangent’ proofs such as AP = ½(AB + BC + CA).
- Every Section E case study ends with a 2-mark choice (e.g. total trees planted vs. which class planted 34 trees in Q37) – read the case carefully and pick the option you can finish fastest.
- In heights-and-distances (Q35, drone over an accident site / statue on a pedestal) 1 mark is for the correct figure, so always draw and label it.
- No calculators and π = 22/7: practise arithmetic such as 21^3 − (2/3)(22/7)(21/2)^3 = 6835.5 cm^3 (Q34) by hand.
- Solve the 2027 paper in one sitting with a timer, check it with the marking scheme, then solve the 2026 paper a few days later.
