- पाठ की कथा — योगिता प्रतिदिन प्रातः पिता के साथ उद्यान जाती है और वहाँ भ्रमण करती है, जबकि बहुत-से लोग वहाँ व्यायाम और योगासन करते हैं। यह सुनकर सब मित्र उत्साह से योगशिक्षिका (आचार्या) के पास जाते हैं और सूर्यनमस्कार सीखने की इच्छा प्रकट करते हैं।
- सूर्यनमस्कारः द्वादशानाम् आसनानां समाहारः अस्ति — सूर्यनमस्कार बारह आसनों का समूह है। हर आसन से पहले एक मन्त्र बोला जाता है; उनमें पहला मन्त्र है ‘ॐ मित्राय नमः’ और सबके अन्त में ‘ॐ सवितृसूर्यनारायणाय नमः’ ।
- सूर्य के बारह नाम — मित्रः, रविः, सूर्यः, भानुः, खगः, पूषा, हिरण्यगर्भः, मरीचिः, आदित्यः, सविता, अर्कः, भास्करः। मन्त्र में ये सब चतुर्थी विभक्ति में आते हैं — मित्राय, रवये, सूर्याय, भानवे, खगाय, पूष्णे, हिरण्यगर्भाय, मरीचये, आदित्याय, सवित्रे, अर्काय, भास्कराय।
- दो व्याकरण-नियम (अत्र इदम् अवधेयम्) — (1) ‘नमः’ शब्दस्य योगे चतुर्थी विभक्तिः भवति — जैसे भास्कराय नमः। (2) दानार्थे (दा-धातोः तथा च यच्छ्-धातोः योगे) चतुर्थी-विभक्तेः प्रयोगः भवति — जैसे शिक्षकः छात्राय पुस्तकं ददाति / यच्छति।
- चतुर्थी विभक्ति के रूप — अकारान्त पुंलिङ्ग व नपुंसकलिङ्ग में –आय / –आभ्याम् / –एभ्यः (छात्राय, छात्राभ्याम्, छात्रेभ्यः); आकारान्त स्त्रीलिङ्ग में –आयै / –आभ्याम् / –आभ्यः (बालिकायै); ईकारान्त स्त्रीलिङ्ग में –यै / –ईभ्याम् / –ईभ्यः (नद्यै, नदीभ्याम्, नदीभ्यः)।
- पाठ का श्लोक और सन्देश — ‘आदित्यस्य नमस्कारान् ये कुर्वन्ति दिने दिने। आयुः प्रज्ञा बलं वीर्यं तेजस्तेषां च जायते॥’ — प्रतिदिन सूर्यनमस्कार करने वालों को आयु, बुद्धि, बल, पराक्रम और तेज मिलता है। सूर्यनमस्कार से शारीरिक, मानसिक तथा आध्यात्मिक तीनों प्रकार का बल बढ़ता है और ‘स्वस्थं शरीरं स्वस्थं मनः’ प्राप्त होता है।
