- त्वं जीवने कदाचित् अभीष्टं वस्तु न लभसे। कदाचित् तव लक्ष्यपूर्तिः न भवति। तदा त्वं किं करोषि, किं च चिन्तयसि इति संस्कृतभाषया / स्वभाषया प्रसङ्गसहितं लिख।
- मुखेन द्राक्षाफलस्य ग्रहणम् – इति क्रीडां कारयामः। उपरि रज्ज्वा फलस्य मधुरस्य वा बन्धनं कृत्वा तस्याः आकर्षण-शिथिलीकरणैः अध्यापकः क्रीडाङ्गणे क्रीडां कारयति। छात्राः मुखस्य साहाय्येन ग्रहीतुं प्रयत्नं कुर्वन्ति।

- पाठ का आरम्भ (पृष्ठ 39) — कक्षा में आचार्य एक चित्र दिखाते हैं। छात्र बताते हैं कि चित्र में वृक्षः, शृगालः, द्राक्षाफलानि हैं और शृगाल अंगूर खाना चाहता है पर खा नहीं पाता। छात्र कहते हैं कि यह कथा वे मातृभाषा में सुन चुके हैं; आचार्य कहते हैं कि अब इसे संस्कृत में गीतरूप में गाएँगे और अभिनय करेंगे ।
- गीत की कथा (पृष्ठ 40–41) — एक शृगाल प्यास और भूख से वन जाता है, वहाँ कुछ नहीं मिलता; वह श्रान्तः (थका) और खिन्नः (दुखी) हो जाता है, पसीना और प्यास बढ़ती है। वह बाएँ-दाएँ, आगे-पीछे देखता है और ऊपर बेल पर द्राक्षाफलम् देख लेता है।
- कथा का मोड़ — अंगूर देखते ही उसके मुँह में रसः (लार) आ जाता है। वह एक बार, दो बार, तीन बार, बार-बार उत्पतति (उछलता है), पर फल नहीं मिलता — केवल पसीना और श्रम बढ़ता है। अन्त में वह ‘आम्लं द्राक्षाफलम्’ कहकर पलायते (भाग जाता है)।
- पाठ का व्याकरण — आत्मनेपदी लट्-लकार — ‘अत्र इदम् अवधेयम्’ में लभ् धातु का पूरा रूप दिया है — प्रथमः पुरुषः: लभते, लभेते, लभन्ते ; मध्यमः पुरुषः: लभसे, लभेथे, लभध्वे ; उत्तमः पुरुषः: लभे, लभावहे, लभामहे । इसी साँचे पर वन्द्, पलाय्, जन्, कम्प्, वर्ध्, वर्त्, प्र+काश्, याच्, लज्ज्, वीक्ष्, सेव्, शुभ् चलते हैं।
- पहचान का सूत्र — आत्मनेपद में प्रथमपुरुष एकवचन –ते पर समाप्त होता है (गच्छति — परस्मैपद, पर लभते — आत्मनेपद)। बहुवचन में –न्ते , मध्यम एकवचन में –से , उत्तम एकवचन में –ए मिलता है — इसी अन्त्याक्षर से पुरुष और वचन पहचाना जाता है।
- पाठ का सन्देश और योग्यताविस्तार के श्लोक — जो नहीं मिलता उसे बुरा कह देना दुर्बलता है। श्लोक कहते हैं — नीच लोग विघ्न के डर से आरम्भ ही नहीं करते, मध्यम बीच में रुक जाते हैं, पर उत्तमजनाः न परित्यजन्ति ; और चलती चींटी सौ योजन पार कर जाती है, न चलने वाला गरुड़ एक कदम भी नहीं — निरन्तर प्रयत्न ही सफलता की कुञ्जी है।
