Literature carries 40 marks, drawn from the two prescribed NCERT textbooks – Flamingo (main reader) and Vistas (supplementary reader).
Flamingo prose lessons are The Last Lesson, Lost Spring, Deep Water, The Rattrap, Indigo, Poets and Pancakes, The Interview and Going Places; and the poems are My Mother at Sixty-Six, Keeping Quiet, A Thing of Beauty, A Roadside Stand and Aunt Jennifer’s Tigers. Vistas chapters are The Third Level, The Tiger King, Journey to the End of the Earth, The Enemy, On the Face of It and Memories of Childhood. Both are published by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), New Delhi.
